Group of diverse people sitting in a circle, engaging in conversation at a professional event or workshop in a conference room.

Nonprofit leaders are cultivated, one gathering at a time.

Cultivation is where Roots to Leadership becomes a lived experience. It is the rhythm of gatherings, conversations, and relationships that turn belief into growth and growth into leadership.

Where Cultivation Happens

A wall with multiple colorful sticky notes containing handwritten text, centered around a large transparent sign with bold black text that reads, 'ONE THING I CAN DO DIFFERENTLY TO SUPPORT GREATER COLLABORATION IS?'.

Our community is for nonprofit professionals at every stage of growth.

For the newer professional finding their footing and looking for peers who understand the work.

For the experienced leader who wants to keep sharpening, keep learning, and stay connected to the sector beyond their own organization.

For the practitioner in the middle of a career and ready to deepen what they already know.

For anyone who believes leadership is cultivated through community and wants to be part of one.

Community Meetings

Community Meetings bring nonprofit professionals together around a shared topic, hosted with partnering organizations across the sector.

Each meeting is a chance to learn something new, connect with people doing the work, and carry something useful back to your organization.

Connection Circles

Connection Circles are the smaller rooms where the conversation goes deeper. These sessions are built for professionals who want to sit longer with an idea, bring the realities of their own work to the table, and build the kind of peer relationships that steady a career.

We'll also spend time on strategies for managing relationships in every direction, whether that's with your supervisor, your direct reports, or your peers across the organization.

This session is designed to be practical and honest. You'll leave with tools and language you can use right away to strengthen how your team works together and how you show up in your role.

Nonprofit work is meaningful. It's also a lot. Most teams are doing more with less, and the people who care most are often the first to wear down.

This session is a grounded conversation about how to recognize when a team, or a workplace culture, is starting to crack and what realistic options look like when you're not the one in charge.

We'll explore the full landscape of how nonprofits are funded, from grants and individual giving to earned income and government contracts, and talk about how each funding type shapes what organizations can and can't do. We'll also dig into the donor journey and donor strategy, looking at how relationships with funders develop over time and what thoughtful stewardship looks like in practice. You'll walk away with a clearer picture of how funding decisions connect to organizational priorities and a better understanding of what diversification really means for sustainability.

Whether you work in programs, operations, or leadership, understanding where the money comes from makes you stronger in your role.
